Richard Orlinski’s artistic story began in 2004 with the exhibition of his iconic red crocodile, Born Wild©, at the Deauville American Film Festival. The red crocodile immediately attracted the attention of actors, directors and festival-goers, who were captivated by its striking appearance. Seduced by the work and his meeting with the artist, the American actor Andy Garcia bought a red crocodile, becoming one of Richard Orlinski’s very first collectors and contributing to his growing reputation.
Much more than a simple representation of an animal, the crocodile intrigues with its smooth, luminous surface. Richard Orlinski breathes real soul into his creation, magnifying its natural beauty and transforming the reptile into a captivating and symbolic work.
In 2019, Richard Orlinski presents a revisited version of his crocodile. Retaining the proportions of the original model, he sublimates it by adding facets that accentuate its brilliance and unique character. Since then, this legendary sculpture has been reinterpreted in a multitude of ways: with or without facets, in a variety of colours, materials and finishes. Each new version enriches Richard Orlinski’s artistic universe, to the delight of collectors and art lovers alike.
